Paul,

ASAIK, this IS a know bug in VFP. It does occur in V8 VFP and appears to be some SNAFU with the way the child windows are sorted. There have been other messages on UT about this issue. I haven't upgraded to 9 and see it randomly in my app. I started putting code such as:
THISFOR.Activate()
THISFORM.pbOpen.SetFocus()
immediately after the call to the other form with pbOpen being a button on the calling form. This does appear to prevent this problem and force the focus back to the calling form. But even this doesn't always work. I tried other suggestions see thread#1021703 for more background and anther solution.

The major problem that I see is that is occurs randomly. What a nuisance! Hey MS, listen to this and fix please.

Hope this helps.
