SDT added some functionality in version 6.2 that might help in this regard:

The new CreateXMLMergeFile and LoadXMLMergeFile methods of DBCXMgr, written by Toni Feltman of F1 Technologies, create an XML file from meta data and load meta data from an XML file, respectively. These methods can be used to merge changes made by different developers into a single set of meta data. See the Merging Meta Data Changes topic for details.
