As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the worst ideas that the Ontario government has ever entertained (and they've had some bad ideas in the last couple of years). There is no good way to limit Sharia law if it is allowed at all. The intimidation factor alone would be enough to make sure women think long and hard about protesting their treatment under Sharia.

Canada has a decent set laws surrounding divorce, family disputes etc. There is no good reason for the government to consider this stuff. Not for Muslims, Catholics, Jews, or any other subsect of the people. I even object to this for aboriginals, but we are bound by treaties etc that require certain commitments from the government, and a government, just as an individual, must live up to it's commitments. We have no such requirements for any other group, and we should not entertain any new such commitments - especially when those commitments will most assuredly marginalise a segment of our society (women in this case) regardless of any useless promises by the government. Any politician who agrees to this, should be forced to live under it's dictates as if a member of that social group.
