You should look at the Debug Ouput window in the Debug frame.

Anyway, I'd take another approach to the problem, and it is drawing the border right away. If the image already have it, it doesn't hurt.

You can do that using GDI+. I'll write it and send you the code (probably post it here) in an hour or so, after I finish a meeting.
