My problem involves trying to send output to a serial port over remote terminal services.
I have a device connected to a terminal that VPNs into the plant, RDCs into Terminal Server as a user and runs an application that needs to output back to the terminal a text string to send to the device (microdot marker). Clear as New Orleans mud?
I tried to SET PRINTER TO COM1 and then use ??? to send the text, but that holds the port open until I close the application. I have figured out that the MS Comm object won't work over TS, as it returns an error. The only other way that I know to do this is to use STRTOFILE() and then use RUN PRINT /D: TEST.TXT, which is less than ideal.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Tim
