Just a WAG: if you try to rename DBT to FPT would you be able to open it in VFP?

>I got copies of tables that were maintained by Lotus Approach application. The tables have .DBF and .DBT extensions. And I actually saw a user accessing the tables from Lotus Approach but the message in the windows stating something like "dBase...".

>And when I try to open the tables in either VFP 6 or VFP 8 I get message asking if I want to convert the MEMO to VFP format. If I say yes, I can then open the table but all fields show garbage. That is, it is unreadable. Most data is shown as some high-ASCII characters. If I choose not to convert the memo to VFP format, the message says, "Cannot open table.".

If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
