What we have to focus on now is VFP as a RAD/OOP development language. Forget DBFs. Use the DBC as a data wrapper for SQL Server or Oracle data. Make virtual 3-tier applications with VFP on the front-end and VFP COM servers in the middle working hand-in-hand with MTS to an enterprise database.

John,

I agree with you overview but I disagree that the dbf is dead. If VFP is to excell as a middle tier it has to be able to chace data for the front ends and its built in database handleing system is ideal for this task. VFP middle tiers can hold large amounts of data in the midde tier cahced for the front end and still manage very well the updates to the backends.

My real agreement with you is that the real future for VFP is in the middle tier.
