>>After the second "adventure" I found a web site with details on the kind of stories you're likely to hear from the sales-person ("person" is not what really comes to mind), and we were able to recognize how they tried to play us.

>Alex during my hunt for s car, I went to a Jeep dealer (don't ask me why I went), anyway they told me if I buy their car they'll throw in a under carriage noise reducing padding for ONLY $1200.00. Then I knew something was up so I left. Do they still offer these mythical noise paddings?

Yeah, for example, there's window etching (they etch the license plate or serial number on the windows as a theft deterrent), which shows up on the invoice as a legal requirement. I had to ask 3 times for an explanation until the salesguy broke down and told me "it's just window etching".

And then there's the usual crap like "I'm selling you this car for just $100 over the wholesale price". Sir, if you're making only $100 of a $20,000+ item, I'd rather deal with someone who's likely to still be in business next month.

You can't take ANYTHING you hear from someone even remotely related to a car dealership at face value.

BTW, congrats on your new car. Hope everything runs smoothly with it, and if you get an extended warranty, make sure it's not only for you but for whoever you might sell the car to in the future.

Alex
