I completely agree with your complaints here. That nag messagebox is definitely in need of a Remind Me later dropdown where we can pick something like: "In 1 hour, In 3 hours, In 1 day, In 3 days, Never". And never should it reboot the computer without express permission... the countdown screen and functionality should be removed completely.
Also, as Craig Berntson has pointed out, there are way too many times that Windows is required to be restarted after an update. In very few instances should this ever be necessary.
But, in the end, I guess I believe Window's Update service is a good thing, and I can live with the rest until they get it right.
>PMFJI, but if the people at Microsoft insists in asking me, after installing the update, if I want to reboot "now" or "later" EVERY FRICKING FIVE MINUTES, or, as it does from time to time, when I come back in the morning and found that it REBOOTED my computer because it felt good to do it, then I do not think is a good thing, or even concept as Martín suggests, it is a torture (I usually left things open all the time, for example FireFox with several tags I am interested in reading when I have time, but I am not interested in bookmarking them). And do not get me started with the "The task blah blah is not responding, do you want to terminate it?" after I SHUT DOWN WINDOWS!!!! Oh man, do I hate that?
