>Well, Dalton McGuinty has now killed the idea of Sharia in Ontario. In fact, he went so far as to say that the government will begin drawing up a bill to ban all religion based arbitration in the province.

>Congratulations Dalton!
That sounds great! By the way, who is Dalton McGuinty?
The reason why I started that thread the other day, is because a sharia court in Canada would have encouraged muslims in other western countries to try the same thing in their (western) homeland.
As I understand, muslims already had the opportunity to go for civil matters to the mosque. The new thing was that the Sharia Option would have provided them a real court. A court that has already unofficially been instantiated by the lawyer Mumtaz Ali. This Mumtaz Ali has said that religion stands above law. And here's one of their verdicts: A man wanted to get rid of his wife. He had now a new relationship with a 19-year old woman. The court gave him persmission to bring his first wife back to .. Pakistan! He also got persmission to give his daughter to someone else in marriage! What a court!
