Ensure you have ample files in your c:\windows\system32\config.nt file:

Something similar to:

dos=high,umb
device=%SystemRoot%\system32\himem.sys
files = 200
buffers = 30,8

Although you can ignore the buffers line now. Play around with the files = line. We start at 100 and move from there.
