Well, I'm not sure I'd go quite that far - at least in terms of the discussion surrounding Sharia. They aren't asking that non-muslims live according to Sharia, but they are asking that we suspend our laws insofar as they are concerned so that they can live under Sharia law instead of Canadian secular law (in a defined set of instances).
If a country has a set of laws, a constitution, a bill or rights, whatever, then those laws must apply equally to everyone in the country, or we invite discrimination, ill will, and even possibly some pointless chaos.
