Sorry, I mis-read your original post. I think I see what you're after now.

I don't have a solution, but was just checking out the code in mmDataGrid. Not that I'm familiar with all the MM internals, but I only see two methods that get passed a mmBaseBusinessObject. Maybe you could override OnBindData or StateChangeHandler and set a custom property to hold the business object?
