I don't think that this is a VFP-inspired addition. The approach is notably different, and although one can find some similitudes in the idea, it can also be found in other places.

Besides all that, I like the implementation. It seems quite elegant for me, and what it does provide is an interesting way to solve the client-side data manipulation issue.

My guess is that some of the things the VFP team could be contributing to the VB team are closer to IDE features (maybe easily done with LINQ). But of course, I don't know for sure.
