Tell me where in the Constitution it says we should have a Pledge of Allegiance. One of my kids pointed out to me how absurd it is to pledge one's allegiance to a flag. Listen to the words.
Hey, folks in other countries, does anybody else have anything like this? Well, the pledge isn't "just" to the flag, it's also to the republic, etc. The flag is the symbol. (Even though there is the "under God" in there, which I don't agree with - I still don't think most Americans take religion seriously, even with all the lip-service - if they did, political freedom would be impossible)
The Constitution is a framework -
"reductio ad absurdum", if we used the content of the Constitution to validate/dismiss everything we have in this country, that would be a very long process.
