It's one thing when Codd used words like "tuples" in 1970. It was new stuff and he was a theorist thinking things through. Now we know and the issue is to keep things efficient, both at runtime and *at development time*. This includes requiring as little code as possible and sticking to concepts like tables, rows and columns.
