Use
1- MEMO fields for textual comments,

2 - GENERAL for complex OLE based information

and

3 - BINARY MEMO fields for storing the content of self-standing files (including exe) that you want to store in a DBF- library (you will get them back as files by a COPY MEMO). They can be pretty useful in some situations.
