Oh, this society has a rudder, Brett - SPEND, BUY, REPLACE.
Definitely not the rudder you and I want, but THE rudder nonetheless.
The other day I was adding up what I don't have of today's gotta-haves.
I don't have:
- a DVD player
- a digital camera
- a video camera (digital or otherwise)
- a PDA
- a Blackberry
- a flat screen TV
- a projection TV
- a HDTV receiver
- a cell phone
- call display
- a gym membership
- digital cable
- any clothes with a recognizeable logo
- Nike runners (or whatever they're called these days)
- a photo printer
- a MP3 player
- wireless anything
- an outstanding balance on my VISA card
... to name the things that come to mind.
By today's standards I am essentially worthless to society... certainly to the corporations.
I am quite happy to be this way, frankly, but it does take a whole lotta self-control to resist jumping in to the new-fangled world we live in today, what's with all of the constant advertising showing me just how "good" life can be if I have all these things.
>teaching of basic codes from school and you then jepordize the very existence of the group. Why? Because nothing filled the void left behind by the removal of God in school, other than teaching that makes a person drift from one concept to another. As a society we are becoming a rudderless ship.

>>I have had a friend since childhood who is a good person. He belongs to no church and has the moral belief that the individual should be allowed to do whatever he/she wishes as long as they do not get caught! If you get caught then you should pay a penalty.

>I have seen that too, even in small town Indiana. "If it feels good do it" is another phrase I have heard attached to the phrase "as long as it doesn't bother anyone else".
