I don't have solutions to all the problems. But I do know I can use my own common sense to see wrong solutions. When I see religion used throughout history as an excuse for killing and genocide, I have a big problem with religion.

I find it interesting that you refer to the history of the US as proof that when there was more religion 40-50 years ago things were much better. I was talking to an African American friend of mine today about statements such as the ones you are making. He's in his 50's.

To say he was a little pis*ed off would be an understatement. He talked about the lynchings that took place when he was little by church going white folks. The deep south is known as the bible belt. Same place where the KKK practically ruled the roost way back when.

You think you have some sort of higher morality then those of us who don't share deeply religious views. I feel really sorry for you that you think a strong believe in God is the cure for the worlds ills.

I'm not using catch phrases as you call them. I'm basing what I've said on what I've seen and heard. When I've talked to others who feel the need to shove their religion down others throats I see the same personality traits I've seen when I visited groups like multilevel marketing associations. People who spout the company line because they have a strong sense of belonging. And are willing to say whatever it takes to enhance their standing within the group.

With all the wars that have occured throughout history in the name of religion, what makes you think religion will solve problems, rather then create more?

>I have a big issue with those who make statements like your also. My big issue is this:
>
>TELL ME YOUR SOLUTION TO ALL THE PROBLEMS.
>
>Sorry for the yelling, but I really want to know. You know how to point fingers and use catch phrases ("crutch for the weakminded"). How about it then, tell me what you would do if you were president. If you were in charge when 911 occurred. If you were in charge when Katrina hit. About abortion. About murders, about the economy.
>
>Tell me what you think is right and wrong.
>Tell me how you would change the wrong and enforce the right.
>
>>I have a big issue with those who push religion with statements such as your's. I don't understand people who don't think we can have morality without religion. That you can't possibly tell right from wrong without religion.
>>
>>Everyday I have a stronger and stronger feeling about this. Particularly when you have nutjobs evangelists saying things like Hollywood has caused the destruction of New Orleans. Because they selected a lesbian, Ellen Degeneres, to host the Emmy's. He spewing hatred, which I don't need religion to know is wrong. There have been far, far, far, far, far too many examples thru history of people justifying destruction based on their feelings about another religion.
>>
>>Whose right when someone in Iraq says we, the US, are a bunch of infidels according to their God, and should be destroyed. And Bush fires right back and says that his belief in his God is leading him to launch a war with those same Iraqes?
>>
>>I find religion to be a crutch for the weakminded. Those who don't feel comfortable making decisions for themselves, who want to be led. Unfortunately, there are too many instances of those people willing to follow someone down a misguided path. Against abortion, but no problem with dropping bombs over Iraq. A tatic sure to kill women with unborn fetus' in them.
