>On Friday, September 16, 2005, Drew Speedie and his son, Brent, fell a few hundred feet to their deaths from a bridge in Yellowstone Park. The Speedie family was on vacation there. Details of this tragedy are extremely limited at this time.

We are shocked and deeply saddenned. I met Drew, Irene and Brent in countless conferences. I was planning to talk to Drew about something in VMP in the next meeting I was having with him in a week or so in Redmond.

I talked to Russ on the phone who told me what little he knows at this time, which is basicall what he has posted. There are also a few articles in newspapers that give few details as they are looking for eye witnesses, especially somebody that tried to tell the Park Rangers but had trouble with English.

Drew was an exceptional person and a consummate professional. Brent was a sweet kid, and the #1 bug hunter in VMP!.

They will be sorelly missed. Our thoughts are with Irene.
