It is, Jim, and thanks.

My views, before and during my MS sojourn, were always that I couldn't support .Net as an upgrade for VFP until VFP developers oculd take a high percentage of their legacy skills and experience with them. This goes a long way to satisfying that personal requirement.

>>Mike, you have no idea. The details aren't out yet and so I can't comment, but this (potentially) goes far beyond simply querying iEnumerables.
>>
>>When I was still a MSFTie, I used to get folks PO'ed off at me because I refused to embrace .Net as the next step for Foxers because they couldn't port over a large percentage of legacy skills. Next time you run into YAG, he'll tell you (lol).
>>
>>Not only have I seen what they're doing and have to revise my opinion completely, but the folks involved on the PM and Dev side are utterly up to the task and trustworthy to do the right things.
>>
>>Folks know that I'm a true-blue Fox Head and not a shill for .Net, but I have to say that folks had better get a copy of VS 2005 and start learning - if for no other reason that to be prepared for the amazing stuff coming next. This is sort of what I was hinting about on the VSData blog for months but could never elucidate.

>>>>This may fill in a few blanks for you. Note particularly LINQ's ability to query across any data, whether in database, XML or any structure with IEnumerable interface (collections, arrays, lists, etc).
>>>
>>>Not really. It is cool to have a query language for data in a variety of formats, but can this technology do anything more for than save me a few lines of code?
>>>
>>>This looks like a total waste of time to me.
>>>
>>>Let's recapp:
>>>
>>>2000: .NET is awesome because its an all-purpose OO platform
>>>2005: .NET can now execute data queries without using objects
>>>
>>>Amazing!
>>>
>>>Not really.
>>>
>>>Unless I'm missing something. Anyone?
