Yeah, it might be more believable that one would have fallen by accident, but not both. The comment Russell made about one getting into a precarious position and the other attempting to save seems like another possible scenario.

I only attended one DevCon where Drew was a speaker, and I only caught the tail end of one of his sessions - really just a brief few minutes. Because of his reputation, he was definitely on my "must see" list at a future conference. Certainly, this is a huge loss to our community but an even bigger loss from his family's perspective. The family is in my thoughts and prayers.
