No I'm not lumping all Navy workers together. I just know that people I've been associated with who are deeply religious, but don't exhibit the type of holier then thou attitude shown by you and others here, prove their worth to society by doing their best to contribute in a positive way.

I find you to be extremely hypocritical for you to pretend to be some special holy person, yet you've chosen a career that involves killing many. And somehow you are able to justify it to yourself. If you wish to find this a slanderous statement feel free.

Do you really think your God is going to welcome you with open arms when he looks at the list of all who have died because of your career?

>Perry do you know what I do for the Navy or are you just lumping all Navy workers as evil? It seems very interesting to me that you live in the US and yet you imply that no one should work for the US Navy, because in your eyes we are all evil and involved in the destruction of others. How about the protection of others. Do we not do that? How about the protection of you, so you can then make slanderous statements about me and my job. You do not know me. You do not know what I do. You just like picking on things that you have no expertise in. I gather it makes you feel big, but people can see right through your petty comments.

>>I was watching a news program after the last election. A nun was on discussing how all these people who claim to be religious don't belong to her religion. Her religion teaches that to be righteous you need to spend you life helping the poor, the opressed. Yet here you have Bret working for the Navy. Involved in destruction of others. And somehow he is able to convince himself that when he meets his God, there will be a party there in his honor.

>>>>>>Well God is the same way. I do not do certain things because I know that I will have to face him one day for those things I have done. I also do not wish to have God be disappointed in my behavior here on Earth.
>>>>>
>>>>>I do not do certain things because of my sense of standards amd values, not because of fear for some supposedly highly powerful, but never demonstrated, creature. I am in the position to freely think about arguments people come with and then eventually update my standards and values. From a psychological/developmental perspective you are still in a phase that is normal for children of a certain age: You still believe in ghosts (sorry, one ghost). You've never seen the creature really, but nevertheless you are sure the creature is real. And, to further track down your phase to even younger children: You still fear the creature.

>>>>Well thank you for your analysis. But since you want to attack my mental development, then I guess the civil back and forth is over. I wish you well as you seek what you want out of life. I have found what I need and I am content in knowing that my heavenly father watches over me with the same love and compassion that my earthly father did. I may not see God as to give you the proof which you seem to seek, but I know the true meaning of faith and I contend everyday to maintain that faith, until my race is done.

>>>What does that mean: IWPFY ?
>>>
>>>It wasn't meant as a personal attack. It was meant as an analysis only, indeed. Earlier you made clear that you don't mind having 'interesting discussions' with a non-believer. And I said 'Okay, let's discuss it a little bit further then. :)'
>>>Now I must conclude that your idea about interesting discussions is limited. I am not free to say the things that are important, according to me, in this context. I truly have this idea that religious people are stuck in a certain, lower phase of mental development. But we non-believers are not free to express this; it is regarded as offensive. I guess the discussion stops here then indeed.
