It doesn't seem to do much for me either, but I don't see the harm in having it run.
I can probably stop it from displaying when it runs too, but that's not my problem. My problem is that it takes my typing away and it is that that I want to stop. I also want to know when it is running.
This bugger runs behind things, so I can't even tell that something might be stealing my typing. At last SKYPE rings the phone, giving me a cue.
