Our Network guy explained, that I have an old video card and the only way to use my monitor to its potential is to buy a new video card (which I'm not sure will happen soon). One of my colleagues is not having this display problem. Two others have it if they use 800*600 resolution. What exactly should I (or our network administrator) do to check, if drivers are the latest?

That would be tough if you cannot change the display settings or monitor. I access mine by right mouse clicking on an empty desktop area. I Go to properties, then settings, then advanced. That is where I look at my adapter and my monitor to see driver information. But if you cannot change these then you have a problem. The nice part about using a Dell is that dell has a program that scans my hardware and tells me when an updated driver is available.
