We use the tag property to store a field name from our pdf fillable forms. The field name we enter here is the matching field name used on the actual pdf fillable form. That way when we send the data from a form to a pdf file we step through all controls on the form and set the value of the field name specified in the tag property to the value in the control using the Gnostice pdf toolkit.
For instance, the controlsource on a textbox might be policies.polnumber or m.polnumber. If the fillable field on the pdf form is named: COMPANY.APPLICATION.POLICYNUMBER then that value will be put in the tag property of the control. We cannot make the field name on the fillable pdf form the same as the controlname or controlsource on our vfp forms because the pdf forms follow a guideline based on ACORD insurance standards and must meet ACORD al3 and xml standards.
