>I need to perform a small task prior to installing an app. It can't be written in VFP, since the runtimes will not yet be installed. It could be done via InstallShield, but only in the full version, not the Express version I'm using and I'm not interested in shelling out the dough to get the full version for this one little task. I'm thinking I need a language that compiles to a true EXE. Do those exist anymore? Actually, I think C++ prior to .NET would do that and RealBasic supposedly will. Any thoughts on the best way to get this done? The task is to merely copy a file from one location to another prior to the install. That might even be done with a batch file, but that's a bit messy.

If a batch file could do it you might be able to use something like Bat2EXE to convert it to an .EXE

(never used it myself)
