Thanks for the reply. I got this one working already. I used the OnMouseMove event handler (override) of the control and depending on the X,Y coordinates I can determine the temperature and display it for the user. If the X,Y coordinates are outside of the boundaries (i.e. ouside the cylinder) I set the tooltip text to blank and it disapears. It works pretty slick if I may say so myself.

Great. I was thinking that by using a control instead of the tooltip you could also control the position of the display but, thinking about it, that wouldn't neccessarily be a good UI.
