there is no easy answer
it all depends on you Programm design
as we did the step we analysed all tabel design and finaly decided to
redo the structure of the Programm.
we use X Case as modeling tool
xcase will generate the VFP DBC and Tabels aus well as THE sql Server tabels

you should use VFP 9 as jordan mentioned.
It took us 1 programmer year to get it all working. You should look at Framewoks like Visuale Extend we use it (free Testdownload)that might help a lot
