>What you are saying is not any different than I what stated Randy. I am basically stating that it is not illegal for the employer to charge sick time for an employee's medical appointment. Craig's message stated that it was illegal and that is not true. I went to the federal government on that one because my old boss for the federal government always charged sick leave for medical appointments and if you had used up your sick time then you could elect to take vacation time or time off without pay (all of which are allowed under federal law). I am not saying the employer is under any obligation to grant sick leave vacation days or even pto to an employee.

I'm going through some of this stuff right now. Fortunately, I've got over two years worth of sick time built up. I will be off for several months due to a couple of broken bones in my back. I've put off doing anything about it in the past because I didn't want to miss work. Well, now that I'm getting ready to retire, I figured when your leg goes numb after about 10 minutes of walking, it's time to go under the knife. The funny thing is the department can't do a thing about it either, because the xrays had the doc scratching his head. He said I should be retired on a disability. I said it only hurts when I breath. Oh well, here's to having enough sick time to cover the problem!

One thing that has been mentioned is they want me to take FML time instead of sick time. I told them I don't care if they call it special assignment time, I'm not filling out any paperwork for them other than what the doctor sent that says I my return to duty date is: OFF (HAHAHAHAHAHA)
