I don't remember weather it was Dragan or Peter who was trying to understand "fear of God", but Doug's comment to me reminded me of a perfect example.

I was watching "The Daily Show" a couple weeks ago. They showed a tape of some type of Christian get-together. With famous and not-so-famous folks getting up to the pulpit to give speeches. The premise behind all the speeches was how bad life in the US is because we don't pay enough attention to religion when making governmental decisions.

This was "fear of God" at its finest. The goal was to say we are all doomed if we don't pay enough attention to religion. To me it just means that those in power are using an excuse to keep in power. It also means to me that there is a group of people in the US who want to take us back to the 15th century.
