It's really kind of a catch 22. There's an obvious need to discuss a lot of the issues that are being discussed here re: VFP's future, comparisions with other products, etc. - but all the doom and gloom is virtually certain to be scaring new users away. If the loyal user community is concerned about the future of the product who in their right mind would decide to start using it now?
