It doesn't, but is my first step when analyzing new pages. I "kinda" try to get better understanding of the page structure with visual manipulation - should not be neccesary in a simple login form, but helps on monster pages.

OTOH it helps when the app breaks - customers immediately understand that "automating" IE has to be touched whenever the base pages are changed. And some security functions (client side SSL for instance) will (try to) show some forms for user input even if you work with WinHHTTP-Com for instance <g>.
