I agree about the methods being the same..I did include the various attempts at using CREATEBINARY() in my original attempts(no bit shifting, just using CHR()) but was unable to get the same results..I was running into problems where Foxpro was casting the resulting "string" as an integer and only sending 4 bytes...anyways....

As far as the data being "all-blanked-out". When I try to retrieve the data from the variable in which it was stored, I only see blank spaces. Sometimes I actually see a bunch of junk characters that I was told can come from when Foxpro starts pulling random memory because it encountered a NULL. I cut/pasted some of the blank output and some of the junk output to a Hex editor and the only similarity is that 00 are the first 2 hex digits in each case. Again, I can see that the data is coming in just fine by looking at the data packets using Ethereal...
