>>>PS is that how you guys spell "plough"?

>Strange. YOU know the classic spelling but other canucks don't, and use "plow" instead. You're the second to mention ploughing reP: cats' eyes and both of you used "plow". How do you spell "draught" as in "draft beer"? - "Draft"?

>Why not? It's like a mechanical lance that embeds the eyes into the (yielding) tarmac. Mind you, if you've ever looked closely at eyes then you'd see they're a piece of work, probably quite expensive.

We have both words here - plough and draught, but it's easier for the eye to see plow and draft, so that's often the way you see them written. Compare "ploughing" vs "plowing". Besides, plough looks too much like it should be pronounced ploff as in cough. Plow and draft are much more straighforward.

Also, we don't want to go into a bar and order a couple of draughts only to be brought a game board and some checkers.
