John,
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by Game Over, so I don't know whether I agree with you or not. I do believe that MS will deliver VFP 7. I believe that there will be a VFP 6.0 exam. Say what you want about MS, they're pretty careful about what they'll promise. They rarely promise something specific and fail to deliver on it. They say they'll market VFP better, but they'll never promise to give it equal billing with VB or VI. And they'll probably market VFP a
little better.
That said, I do think the future of the product is fairly dim. I'm finding it harder and harder to sell clients on VFP solutions. I find that using SQL Server as the back-end generally allays client concerns. With SQL Server 7 having improved performance and admin I see myself using it as the back-end for most future projects. It seems like VFP 6 is almost a great choice for middle-tier components. The main thing I see missing is the ability for multiple clients to access a single VFP COM object concurrently (a
big problem. I also like VFP as a front-end. Even with a 3-tier solution you'll want to do some data mainipulation at the client. So I see using VFP when a fat client will work and ASP and browsers when you need a thin client. I still expect to be using VFP two years from now, but not nearly as much as I am now.
