See if there's a window definition still hangin' 'round. Alt+w, and if you see an odd window name there,

Release Window OddWindowName

Also, check the program menu; if Resume is not dimmed, choose Cancel, and then issue all of your Clears. This is all voodoo, of course - I don't know which one of these actually works in conjunction with which other one. It's just a list of things which help sometimes, and sometimes don't.
If everything else fails, quit and start over.
