Kevin,

I don't know if this comes close to matching that, but here in Georgia there a representative to Georgia House, who's gotten 2 DUIs. He's a Republican, BTW.

He's trying to beat the charges by invoking a clause in the Georgia Constitution that says while in session, a member of the legislature cannot be accused of a crime, with certain exceptions, such as murder or treason.

Yesterday's Atlanta Journal-Constitution (www.ajc.com) had an editorial saying basically that he should not be exempt from these charges based on an article of the Constitution that was written in 1789.

The AJC has an equal time policy on its editorials that allows the other side to put their argument in print.

Did this guy take advantage of it? Sure did via his lawyer.

Basically, his lawyer went on a rant against, of all things, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and suggested to the reader that if they're pulled over, to resist any field sobriety test.

These guys may not be DOOD award winners, but they're certainly scum.
George
