>It is self-evident to many observers, after Katrina in New Orleans, that there remains some form of "racism" in America.
>You say the remarks serve as a diversion from the real issue.
>First, it is clear to me that any such "diversion" has been caused by the PC police alone.
>Secondly, the form of racism that has been exposed by Katrina indeed appears to be along the "economics, distribution of wealth, etc." line. So where is the "diversion"?
The discussion is diverted into the talk about political correctness, is this guy a racist or not etc, and away from the causes of the situation.
>BUT I still don't think that the original statement had anything to do with "racism" per se, but rather was a blunt and forceful case to demonstrate the absurdity of the postulation that abortion decreases crime rates. Because even if it did, it is impossible to use that to any "advantage" in fighting crime.
True. But this reduction to absurd is just another distraction. Or was his point just another addition to the move against abortion?
And mind you, I'm not pro-abortion. It's the worst method of contraception, IMO. There are far better ways. But when there's no other way, it should be available.
