This message has been marked as the solution to the initial question of the thread.
>I am using VFP as a front end to an AS400 database. It seems when ever I insert a record into the AS400 file, if it has a date field, the default blank is "01/01/1899". This is somewhat messy when I display the record back to a form. What is a good way to hide the date when the control uses this field as it's source but the date is less than say "01/01/1990"? The control still needs to be ready to take a date update, if the user needs to add one.

Your backend should support null for date fields and you should send null for empty dates.
