Tracy;

Another rule: Never be a victim in an automobile accident. Your experience sounds like mine.

The guy that hit us was not insured. We had medical ($10,000 maximum for each person) and my cost at the trauma center for 14 hours was $18,000.

Had we not had uninsured motorists protection we would have had to pay any amount over the $10k out of pocket. To receive the uninsured motorists payment we had to sue AAA, and we went through HELL. The nice thing is that we are alive – but I will never be the same regardless of how much money I received. By the way the money received did not pay for the $120k medical costs.

Buy the way, all insurance agents should go through such an experience, as well as their managers. Perhaps then they would understand what you are going through!

>Thanks. Just really sore now. The swelling has mostly gone down. I have pulled ligaments and muscles. My insurance company was great as far as the vehicle goes. Since the other driver was at fault and ticketed by the police, her insurance policy pays. However, she has the same insurance company I do. My insurance company is great for sticking up for the insured that is found at fault. In this case though, they have to pay me so I am basically the enemy. They sent a rental car to my house the very next day and paid for it. They also totaled my car and I pick up the check today at noon. This is all within one week. Absolutely terrific claims service. Now the problems come into play due to bodily injury. My insurance has to pay regardless since we both have the same insurance company and they are groaning and griping about my medical bills and they made the mistake of trying to intimidate me the day after the accident. This was definitely a mistake since I work for a large
> financial institution and an insurance company and I write computer programs for the insurance industry. He insinuated (just doing his job I know) that I would get nothing except what he felt I deserved. He also implied that if I employed an attorney then I would get nothing. He then gave me the standard lecture of how concerned they were for my welfare and knew that immediately following an accident the victim is typically strapped for cash and he offered me a check on the spot (as they always do) which was less than half of my doctor's bills (still to be completely determined) and wanted me to sign the waiver. Had it been equitable I might have, but not until my medical treatment is complete regardless. No dice. He insinuated that I was not intelligent enough to do the right thing. I ended up getting a lawyer simply because the adjuster for the bodily injury I met with was such a jack_ss.

>>>While our policy is for all employees to make up the time within the same pay period (I never really thought this was fair because hourly employees get paid overtime and I do not while I work a LOT of overtime during project deadlines) it turns out that it is not always necessary. I was in an auto accident just this last Wednesday night. I was sitting at a redlight waiting for it to change to green when someone in a van wasn't paying attention and she slammed into me at 45 mph. Totaled my car and I received some neck injuries and problems so I have to go to the therapist and chiropracter everyday for at least the next 4 weeks. I was informed today that I don't have to make that time up. Hmmmmmmmmm

>>I'm sorry to hear that, Tracy. Hope you're OK.
