>I am converting a FoxPro DOS application to VFP5.0a. The DOS app is report intensive with some 125 regular reports and over 800 reports that actually print contracts or legal documents of some sort. Most of the document type reports are heavily interlaced with functions calling printer control codes. Users by and large use either Brother 1809 or Oki 320 or 320 Turbo printers. We cannot affort to redo all these reports from scratch. We hope to import the reports in VFP 5, make minor adjustments and go on.

>As I am sure many of you are aware printing on Dot matrix printers in Windows basically sucks. We had hoped to be able to use the generic text printer driver to have some measure of speed and quality but several problems have developed. First, if I set the driver to print directly to the printer without the spooler, every time I attempt to pass a control code to the printer I get a print spool error. If the spooler is turned on and I pass printer control codes, the codes go directly to the printer and the report goes to the spooler and you can see the problem. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't tried this, but why not print to a file, so it should receive both the escape sequences _and_ the report, and once it's done send it to printer.
