I yhad a cat for 19 years, called "Fingers", who had, on each paw: 4 normal toes, a normal dew claw (but bifurcated),
AND THUMBS (slightly opposable), as well as assorted claws hidden between his toes. I was never sure just how many digits he had.
And he was so smart he was people. (never caught him hitching though - Fat Freddie's Cat found that a problem) :-)
