The 1st URL didn't take me to a pic of a "squoil". I didn't know N. America had had red Sq's. The greys have been so successful over here cos they can exploit the (I think) deciduous forests rather than the coniferous (or the other way round, or both) - certainly there are greys in our park which has decid. trees). Near my home town of Liverpool there is a reds' reserve, near the sea, which is cut off from other forests by miles of sand dunes, so greys can't migrate to it.
I'd imagine chipmunks to be real cute but, again, we don't have them
