Just poor habit. It is an adverb of course and belongs at the end, but then, I'm lucky if I spell correctly let alone place items in their correct location when typing in a hurry! Rarely, an adverb goes in the middle of a sentence, but there are times when it does in order to retain the meaning as in:

In a truly heroic effort, the fireman rescued three burn victims.
