One of the big things for me in converting from VFP to .Net has been having to rethink my data strategies and doing more on the server than relying on local cursors for data munging. We are finding that we can do most of our processing on the server and return the exact datasets we need to preclude local data processing. More overhead code wise, I guess, but in the end, just as efficient.
