You should have been around in the pre-twit filter days (over five years ago) when discussions were quite lively. Walter's remarks would have been considerd light-weight.

I've been a member since '98, and I've seen different members toss f-bombs at each other.

What bothers me is that JVP was banned a year ago for "light-weight" comments he made to (amongst other people) Walter, for comments like "you have zero credibility", "you don't know what you're talking about", etc. IMO, Walter's comments about John were quite similar.

I don't agree with banning (except maybe for Bill Sanders), and I wish that JVP were still up here. Sure, he was sarcastic and harsh, and I've had many debates with him about getting a point across in ways that are neither sheepish nor harsh - but between the meanness was some real truth about things.
