Exeter we'd say is in the SW, out on the Devon/Cornwall peninsula. I live nearer the SE corner, below London, on the Channel.

Sure. Here we're surrounded by stunning undulating chalk "downs", (a hobbit would feel at home here), some of them tall enough to be termed "mounts", and the most forested area of England, with the chopped-off white cliffs, castles, Battle of Hastings. And of course Brighton is a very vibrant city, with bucket-loads of culture.
