Hi Tracy,
>Walter, to your knowledge, has anyone yet developed small matching data-driven applications in VFP and VB (or C#) to demonstrate a 'typical' means of accomplishing the same business requirement using both tools? I realize that there are 20 ways to skin a cat, but experienced programmers tend to use a tried and proven method of data handling over time so a common method of approach should be known in all three tools by now I think. Even a simple single data entry form for a backend would be a worthwhile test/demonstration.
I do know that Jess Banaga has a project rewritten in .NET but did not introduce it yet because of some performance problem.

1043176In the same thread, Neil mc Donald confirmed having the same problems, but I don't know the real story behind that. I know John Ryan has some experience in this field, but I'm not sure if he has a situation that is a honest comparison. You'll have to ask the named persons to get a full detailed description. Also Cetin, seems to have quite some experience in both, but You'll have to ask him if he applies to answering your question.
Further My conclusions are basically a sum up of what is possible in .NET, the non-flushable cursors and the lack of some basic DML in ado.net. You really don't have to be einstein to look at the specifications to see something is missing to take it up to the same level as VFP, esspecially if you look at what MS itself has written about the subject lately and its promised solution (LINQ).
Walter,
