I figured it out, I think.

I switched font to COurier New instead of Courier, and it worked. I am assuming certain fonts do not translate to the printer properly. I made the mistake of assuming Courier would be standard for our HP Lasers. Evidently not. Courier New (maybe because it is an OpenType font?) works.
